Let&#8217;s try and figure it out. We&#8217;re here to help you decode them to understand the different ways people express love.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">There are a lot of things that we are never taught while growing up &#8211; things that are never included in the school coursework, and even though we do get hits of it at home, there&#8217;s no conscious learning of the matter. One such thing is knowing about &#8216;Love Languages&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Growing up in an urban middle-class Hindu family, I&#8217;ve always attended weddings that had more of worshipping Gods &amp; Goddesses, rather than delving deeper into the love of the bride &amp; the groom. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It took me years to understand that marriage is something beyond those rituals. A few years back, I was attending a friend&#8217;s sister&#8217;s wedding where things were much more simplistic, and they let the guests know the bride &amp; the groom more closely. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It was then when I got to learn about <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2RoE7Ph\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gary Chapman&#8217;s famous book &#8211; The 5 Love Languages.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Returning back home, I ordered the book and was hooked to it for the next couple of days. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Well, to be honest, it was making me realize how we actually express our feelings of love and also make me understand others&#8217; gestures in a better light.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>So, what is a \u201clove language,\u201d and how understanding it might help our relationships?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">After many years of counseling couples in crisis, Chapman says, \u201cIt became apparent to me that what makes one person feel loved isn\u2019t always the same for their spouse or partner,\u201d he explains. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cI discovered every person understands and receives love in a specific language, one of five to be precise. Compliments and an \u201cI love you\u201d can go a long way. On the other hand, negative or insulting comments can hurt your partner and it could take them longer to forgive than others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Understanding if \u2018Words of Affirmation\u2019 is your Love Language:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You really like hearing your partner say, &#8220;I love you.&#8221; Those three words are particularly meaningful, special, and reassuring for you to hear. Again and again and again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You appreciate it when you are being acknowledged and praised. It&#8217;s nice to have your efforts recognized with kind words, no matter how small it is. It lets you know that you are valued. Extra points if it&#8217;s out of the blue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The details matter, and it&#8217;s important your partner remarks on things like if you changed your hair or actually put on work clothes instead of your pajamas for your Zoom work call. Domestic bliss unlocked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It means a lot when someone follows through on something, especially if they were paying attention and stepped in to help. When they do this, you trust your partner to pay attention to the little details.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You think talk is cheap; action means everything. You need someone to come through and to know you can rely on them. It&#8217;s critical you have enough time to hang out and enjoy each other with undivided attention. If you&#8217;re also someone who feels alive after a hug, then you know what&#8217;s your love language \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">People with touch as their love language feel loved when they receive physical signs of affection, including kissing, holding hands, cuddling on the couch, hugging, so on and so forth. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Physical intimacy and touch can be incredibly affirming and serve as a powerful emotional connector for people with this love language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Understanding if \u2018Physical Touch\u2019 is your Love Language:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You look forward to hugs, cuddles, and kissing.
