From flying fighter planes to treading in space, from teaching in the classrooms to leading a nation &#8211; women have made their mark in proving what they are capable of. Yet, quite sadly, even today, women are struggling to find an equal status in society as men do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">In order to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women across the globe, the United Nations has marked March 08 as International Women&#8217;s Day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">History, Significance &amp; Theme of International Women&#8217;s Day 2022:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">\u201cTo tell a woman everything she cannot do is to tell her what she can.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>\u2013 Spanish Proverb.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">History of Women&#8217;s Day:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The history of Women&#8217;s Day dates back to years &#8211; and one of the first calls for women&#8217;s rights was as early as 1848 when in an anti-slavery convention, Americans Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott gathered hundreds of people in what is said to be the first women\u2019s rights convention in the US.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Later, on February 28, 1909, the Socialist Party of America first organized National Women\u2019s Day in New York, and in 1910, German delegates proposed the idea of women\u2019s day. But no date was finalized, and the protests to uphold women&#8217;s rights faded with time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Finally, the\u00a0 United Nations started celebrating women\u2019s day from the year 1975, and in 1977, the UN General Assembly proclaimed March 08 as International Women\u2019s Day for women\u2019s rights and world peace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Theme of International Women&#8217;s Day 2022:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Every year, a new theme is set to celebrate the day &#8211; and this year, the focus is on providing women an equal society &#8211; hence, the theme is &#8220;Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The United Nations aims to emphasize the contribution of women and girls around the world who are volunteering in promoting their communities or working on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and in general working in building a more sustainable future for everyone. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The idea is to <strong>#BreakTheBias<\/strong> and motivate women to take a step ahead, in making their mark.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Related:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifegram.org\/quotes-for-women\/\">Empowering quotes for women<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To celebrate International Women\u2019s Day 2022, let\u2019s all join hands and come together to #BreakTheBias and provide an equal society and privileges to women. \u201cWhere there is a woman, there is magic.\u201d \u2013 Ntozake Shange.
